Career Highlights As a player, "the Bear" has worked his way through an 18 year amateur career, starting out with the Hudson Rebels in 1992, where he played second base. In 1994, the Rebels went to the WBA finals in part due to Rob's timely playoff hitting against the Menomonie Eagles. Two years later, Barabe joined the Spring Valley Hawks, backing up Andy Koehler and Barry Michlig between 1996 and 1999, wherein the Hawks made at least one trip to the WBA finals. In 2000, Barabe joined the River Rats as a infielder / DH, enjoying time spent playing with close friends Adam Bast, John McGinley, and Jason Bast. R. Dallas's featured performance was in a rare outfielding appearance against the New Richmond Millers on July 7, 2002 where he played right field, went 4-6 with an RBI, and secured the game winning grab. Barabe also went 1 for 1 with a solo HR against the Osceola Braves in a July 2001 game for his lone River Rat career bomb. Since 2005, the Bear has primarily served as a general manager and first base coach for the Rats, occasionally working in at bats as a pinch hitter / DH. As he is on record as stating that 2009 will be his last in amateur baseball, the River Rats are hoping to once again make a strong run for the WBA title. |
